Our Rivers Awards 2011 - 2019

Last year, thousands of you voted in Our Rivers Awards 2018 to find Britain’s favourite river (results). This year, the Our Rivers coalition is trying to find out what you get up to on your local river. What wildlife do you see there? How has it changed in your lifetime? Do you go there to feed the ducks, or walk the dog? We want to know.

The data we gather will help us in our lobbying efforts. The government’s Water White Paper will be published later this year and we want to make sure it contains adequate protection for our rivers.

Our online survey will help paint a picture of the state of British rivers, so we can ensure they provide both a home for wildlife and a source of enjoyment for local people. We’ll be able to find the best place in Britain to spot an otter, or enjoy a solitary swim. Our rivers are vital, they are the lifeblood of Britain and the more we know about our relationships with them, the better we’ll be able to safeguard them.

When was the last time you went for a stroll along the banks of your local river? What did you see? Whether you’re a nature lover, angler, rambler, or just care about your local river, we want to know.

There’ll be an award for the county that’s most connected to their local rivers, and one for the county where wildlife is thriving the best – so let us know what you’re getting up to on the riverbank. Whether it’s for fishing, messing about in boats or just finding a place to unwind, we’d love to find out what you get up to on your nearest river.
